Students seeking admission to The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division must meet the following requirements shown below.
The prospective student must be a high school graduate with a minimum, cumulative, final high school CGPA of 2.5 or higher, or hold a General Education Development (GED) Certificate, or associate's degree or higher as a prerequisite for admission. Students must have strong drawing skills to succeed in this program; therefore, a portfolio of 10-20 drawings must be submitted for evaluation during the application process. Drawings should demonstrate current competency with figure drawing and use of color, texture and shading. Specific advice regarding acceptable file formats and proper submission of portfolio examples will be provided by an admissions representative during the application process. A faculty review committee will determine if the applicant demonstrates the necessary skills for admission to the Game Art & Design program.
In addition, students must place directly into our college-level mathematics and composition courses. Students placing into transitional courses will not be admitted to the program.
Each student who enrolls at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online Division is required to complete an online student orientation prior to the start date of the student's first course. The online orientation helps the student become familiar with different features of the online classroom environment and prepares the student for his or her role as an active learner in the online classroom.
